Making sense of knowledge-brokering organisations: boundary organisations or policy entrepreneurs?

Abstract Knowledge-brokering organisations (KBOs) have multiplied in the evidence–policy landscape worldwide, changing how decision-makers are accessing evidence. Yet, we still know little about their emergence and roles. This research helps to understand KBOs place evidence-based policymaking by highlighting varied work that they do, relationships cultivate with policymakers, complex knowledge-brokering processes negotiate, establish credibility different ways. We build on boundary organisation theory concept of policy entrepreneur (PE) (drawn from multiple streams analysis) develop a better understanding who play By using PE concept, bring greater focus politics brokering. duality involves them seeking provide ‘objective’ evidence while simultaneously determining what counts as for making recommendations political decisions.
